Not because of the driving. Because the paperwork, insurance, filings, and compliance rules feel designed to make you give up.
You need startup cash, authority, insurance, IFTA, base plates, broker-ready documents, and a plan before your first dispatch call. TruckStart makes each step visible.

Is this legal? Are you a law firm or filing service?
TruckStart is an educational tool, not a law firm, insurance agency, freight broker, or filing service. We do not file documents with FMCSA, IRS, or any state agency on your behalf. We show you what to prepare, where to go, and how to organize your launch.
Do you file my MC, USDOT, or BOC-3 for me?
No. The goal is to help you understand the process and avoid paying hundreds of dollars for work you may be able to do yourself. You stay in control of your own filings.
Which states do you support?
All 50 US states. You can sign up and complete onboarding from any state. We publish deep state-specific startup guides for 30 high-demand trucking markets, and every state benefits from our federal learning modules covering USDOT, MC authority, EIN, insurance, and broker packet basics.
What is TruckStart Operate?
Operate is the subscription dashboard for active carriers running freight. It includes a load desk, 15-second check calls, broker contacts, Renewal Watch Pro with AI expiry scan and email reminders, a weekly settlement PDF, and a detention claim packet builder. It is $29 per truck per month, and any active carrier can start a 30-day free trial — Starter Kit graduates get an extended trial.
How does detention billing work inside Operate?
When you arrive at a shipper or receiver, Operate's clock starts at the appointment time. When loading begins, the clock stops. We compute billable hours minus the free hours on your rate confirmation, multiply by the hourly rate, and generate a broker-ready PDF with photos and BOL. You can email it to the broker in one click and track sent → acknowledged → paid.
